چکیده
Abstract. Despite the inherent difficulties in quantifying its value, bedload transport is essential for understanding fluvial systems. In this study, we assessed different indirect measurement techniques with a reference direct reach of large sandy-gravel-bed river. An acoustic Doppler current profiler (aDcp), dune tracking method (DTM) and hydrophone were used to determine rates by using calibration or empirical formulas. This study first work which attempted use quantify Results show that most efficient accurate determining fluxes Loire River. Although further needed identify parameters controlling self-generated sediment noise, procedure adopted allows satisfactory estimation rates. Moreover, aDcp are enough variations associated migration.

Dynamic transport capacity in gravel-bed river systems
Sediment transport capacity mediates the transfer and storage of bed material between alluvial reservoirs in a drainage system. At intermediate time scales (100-102 yr) corresponding to the evolution of sediment pulses, conditions governing bed-material transport capacity under the hydrologic regime respond to variations in storage and sediment flux as pulses extend, overlap, and attenuate thro...
متن کاملThe domain of bedload sheets
Bedload sheets are low-amplitude bedforms the are formed by sorting patterns in mixed-size sediment (gravel or gravel-sand mixtures). The features have been functionally linked to dune forms developed in sandy sediments and gravel dunes formed in river channels. There have been a number of attempts to place bedload sheets on extended versions of the bedform phase diagrams used to predict sand b...
متن کاملAssessment of methods used in 1D models for computing bedload transport in a large river: the Danube River in Slovakia
Comprehensive measurements of bedload sediment transport through a section of the Danube River, located approximately 70km downstream from Bratislava, Slovakia, are used to assess the accuracy of bedload formulae implemented in 1D modelling. Depending on water discharge and water level, significant variations in the distribution of bedload across the section were observed. It appeared that, wha...
متن کاملNonlinearity and complexity in gravel bed dynamics
The dynamics of river bed evolution are known to be notoriously complex affected by near-bed turbulence, the collective motion of clusters of particles of different sizes, and the formation of bedforms and other large-scale features. In this paper, we present the results of a study aiming to quantify the inherent nonlinearity and complexity in gravel bed dynamics. The data analyzed are bed elev...
متن کاملThe use of short-lived radionuclides to quantify transitional bed material transport in a regulated river
We investigate the use of the short-lived fallout radionuclide beryllium-7 ( Be; t1/2 = 53·4 days) as a tracer of medium and coarse sand (0·25–2 mm), which transitions between transport in suspension and as bed load, and evaluate the effects of impoundment on seasonal and spatial variations in bed sedimentation. We measure Be activities in approximately monthly samples from point bar and stream...
